ProFM Credential Scholarship – Elevating the FM Profession Scholarship Program
The facility management industry is undergoing significant changes, demanding more from its professionals. To address this challenge and elevate the profession, the Professional Facility Management Institute (ProFMI) offers an annual scholarship program called the Elevating the FM Profession (EFM) Scholarship Program.
This program awards three fully funded scholarships for the ProFM Credential Program each year: the Veterans Award, the Students & Young Professionals Award, and the Professionals Award. Each scholarship covers the entire program, including study materials and assessments, to equip facility professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the evolving industry and shape its future.
The 3 Categories of the ProFM Credential Scholarship Awards
Professionals Scholarship
Build on your career experience and elevate your FM knowledge and skills. This scholarship is for FM professionals with at least 5 years of experience in the industry.
Students Scholarship
Prepare yourself for a career in FM. This scholarship is for students enrolled in any level of post-secondary education, and those who have completed a program in the last 24 months.
Veterans Scholarship
Apply the skills and experience you gained through military service to your career in FM. This scholarship is available to veterans of the United States Military.
ProFM Credential Scholarship Categories and their Specific Requirements
Each scholarship category has slightly different eligibility rules. They are:
Professionals Category
- Must be employed as a FM professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Provide a minimum of (1) letter of reference/support
- Provide their resume/CV
Students Category
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from (within 24 months) a post-secondary education program at a Vocational School, College or University (Undergraduate or Graduate Level students are eligible)
- Must provide official transcript/diploma from corresponding educational institution
- At least 18 years of age
Veterans Category
- Must be a veteran of the U.S. military
- Must provide Branch of Military served
- Provide their resume/CV
ProFM Credential Scholarship’s Other General requirements
Your application should include:
An essay
A reference etter
Essay
Short essay (250-500 words) that explains:
- Why credentialing is important to you, and 2)
- How you foresee earning a ProFM credential will impact your career over the course of the next five years
Reference Letter
There are no formal requirements for who can write your letter of reference, but we strongly suggest choosing someone who can speak thoughtfully about your work experience, industry knowledge and skills, and/or personal qualities that would make you a good candidate for the scholarship of your choice. Common choices include your work supervisor, mentor, former employers, colleagues or teachers.

Note that applications for the scholarship is accepted until June 1 of each year. Winners of each category of the scholarship are announced by August 31st of each year.
