The beginning of my facility management journey – inspired by the World FM Day 2025 celebration

As we commemorate World FM Day 2025 with the theme “Resilience in Action: Thriving in a World of Change“, this year’s theme couldn’t be more fitting. I am reminded of my journey in the facility management industry, which began on May 13, 2013 – 12 years ago. Coincidentally, my start date aligned with the World FM Day celebration, which typically falls on the Wednesday of the second full week in May every year.

World FM Day is a great reminder of the vital role our industry plays in shaping the built environment and improving workplace experiences. It is a chance to reflect on how far we have come and celebrate the contributions of facility managers across the world.

My Journey into Facility Management

While the story of how I got into FM is for another time, I must share that it was a twist of fate. I initially went for a computer-related role in a sister company to Eliezer, but my skills weren’t a fit. Fortunately, I was referred to Eliezer (thanks to Mrs. Alabi) where I met Mr. Benedict Olugboyega Alabi (BOA), the Former President & Pioneer CEO of Eliezer Group. He welcomed me warmly, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Eliezer Workplace Management Limited

My journey in facility management truly began at Eliezer Workplace Management Limited, where I worked with exceptional colleagues, seniors, and line managers. I am grateful to many who contributed to my growth. Special thanks to my supportive Managing Director, Mr. David Korede, whose encouragement significantly shaped my FM career.

Standard Chartered Bank Experience

I was deployed to Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), Nigeria. During my tenure at SCB, I gained invaluable experience working across multiple branches in Lagos State (7 branches), Ota, and Ibadan. I am thankful to the SCB staff for their kindness and support. My operations managers, branch managers, and maintenance team – you have all been fantastic.

CRES Team

I would like to extend special thanks to Mr. Folarin and Mr. Edward Otojareri—your advice made a lasting impact and contributed significantly to my success. Thank you.
