
Engineer Sherif Maged Khaled is a distinguished professional with a wealth of experience in engineering, facilities management, and academia. Since 1996, he has been a dedicated staff member at the American University in Cairo (AUC), where he currently serves as the Executive Director of the Integrated Services, Facilities, and Operations Department.
In his role at AUC, engineer Sherif oversees a substantial annual budget of over 150 million EGP and manages the operations of multiple departments, including housing, housekeeping, landscape, sustainability, and transportation. Leading a team of 200 managers, staff, and craft employees, he ensures the seamless delivery of services to a diverse community of over 8,500 members on a daily basis.
Prior to his tenure at AUC, engineer Sherif honed his skills as a Structural Engineer at Hamza Associates in Cairo, Egypt, from 1993 to 1996. During this time, he played a pivotal role in directing a team of structural designers in the effective and timely design of the prestigious Alexandria Library, sponsored by UNESCO.
Engineer Sherif’s educational background is equally impressive, boasting a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo, with a concentration in Marketing and International Business. He also holds a Master’s degree in Reinforced Concrete Structures from Cairo University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the same institution.
Furthermore, he has distinguished himself through professional certifications, including the Sustainable Facility Professional (SFP) and Facility Management Professional (FMP) credentials from the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). Additionally, he is a LEED Green Associate and recently obtained his Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate from the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Engineer Sherif’s commitment to excellence extends beyond his professional roles. He is actively involved in various industry associations, serving as the Vice President of the Egyptian Facility Management Association (EGYFMA) and representing EGYFMA as a member of Global FM. He is the current Chair of Africa facilities management association (AfricaFM). He is also recognized as a Certified Maintenance Planner/Scheduler and contributes his expertise as a subject matter expert and course developer for the AUC FM Academy.
